A Retail Concept

 

This is a concept for a new set of devices and equipment that would facilitate ease of shopping. The concept is to ensure that it becomes easier for an end user to enjoy buying without the need to worry about long queues.

 

The contraption has the following. A smart phone and  a smart cart. The user of the device makes a list of items to purchase. This can be a list or a read of the bar codes in the empty cartons and boxes. Once the data is captured, the end user can walk into a retailer and pull out a smart cart and start shopping.

 

The buyer starts picking up the stuff she requires and starts to  load them into the cart and at the same time, users her smart phone to  read the bar codes. The smart cart having a Near Field Radio Device reads the stuff as they are placed in the cart and captures the items that are placed in the cart and updates simultaneously the smartphone application on the items in the cart. As they move on pick up items, the cart helps in updating the itmes list and the total spend for the purchases. At the end of the purchases, the user has an option to make a payment and walk out of the retailer instead of having to go through the process again. Reduces the people required to man the pay counters and the end user once done with the purchase, walks out. As the person walks out, the smart card reader updates the retailers inventory.

The extension of the smart cart option is to enable a set of tools in the refrigerator. A smart phone app which reads the inventory in your refrigerator and provides inputs as to the options you have and provides recipes with the stuff you have. A smart microwave, a smart closet…... The options become endless.
